Hand held personal GPS units
have proven to be reliable tools for all who travel in
areas unfamiliar. They are especially helpful to
matsutake harvesters. GPS units are available in a variety of brands and
models. Choosing a unit depends on individual needs. Many
units can be viewed online. Search for GPS.
Below is a GPS map projected onto a contour map. Points marked are
positions of matsutake fruiting. Names of each location and grid lines
can also be displayed. Text files may also be printed in a variety of
formats. Those who would like free text files of points shown
below, Email and ask for file waypoint c a 10/10/97. Positions maybe
interred by hand, or from your computer as a file. Points are in section
19, near Miller Lake.
