Fruit
Growth
Commercial matsutake harvesters ability to
determine how fast a patch will grow, is essential in
many aspects. Higher percentage of most valuable grade,
their ability to "control the area",
conservation of time, and just plain "outsmarting
the mushroom". |
Graphs below are based on the Boswell Matsutake
Studies. Variations in correlation are attributed
to harvester error, or error in monitoring design.
Number one production is compared with daily temperature
variation, hi - low. |
Additional, on site, variables include: |
Direct Sun:
Those individual mushrooms, or patches, which receive
direct sun, mature faster.
|
Note: Zero days are
days of no picking
Aspect:
Temperatures vary on North aspects much less than South.
Elevation:
A variety of weather changes zoned by elevation, Clouds,
fog and inversion.
