Decisions

The group agreed the Diamond Lake study preliminary findings, when published, would be an asset in understanding and managing the multiple use matsutake resource. Funds were pledged and other sources of funding would be explored.

The Diamond Lake studies  should continue indefinitely, adding 10 shallow rake replace treatments, raking each once yearly. All agreed long term monitoring is need to continually monitor the effects of harvesting.

Further discussion is needed to explore designing a study to monitor the effects of thinning on matsutake mycelia abundance and fruiting habits before and after thinning.
