User_Name: Yellow Jacket MessagesGreetings All........ Would someone tell me what kinds of mushrooms come out around Brookings this time of year. Have never picked at the coast but willing to learn thank you Y.J User_Name: Lone Lobo Messagesclarification; just in case someone is watching news about all the snow falling in the NE USA, I was referring to the El Nino effect concerning wild mushrooms in Western North America and have not done any personal research east of the Rocky Mountains. .. Last year on another site I was criticized for revising my postings, but often I do so to make the information more palitable to those with a dying need to criticize. .... I try to be fair in my attempts of clarification, new information or changing of posted photographs. User_Name: Lone Lobo MessagesCleElumGrl; Morels were found last November in San Diego, but the regular season is very slow this year for Southern California... An El Nino year brings cold and wetter winters to the south and less snow to the north, too much rain on the burn sites caused flooding & loss of potential conica mycilia in many areas...but cactus morels are alive & kickin in secret research locations... lol... Some snow at timberline currently on the Superstition Mountains near Phoenix and most likely more coming this Saturday in the burn sites .... … a little bird told me that landscape morels were found on the 4th of this month in Eugene Oregon. ... If there is not a deep freeze then morels ought to be flushing soon further north, check your lower logging-blocks for false morels, orange cups & possibly black naturals in micro-climes and check bark-beds for landscape morels... I called Shirley at BZ Corner Washington and she feels that the Columbia George is about two weeks out yet, but I believe that there could currently be verpas or more in some areas. User_Name: Tinker MessagesOMG...are u guys bored.lol User_Name: JDS Messages"Decade" as defined by dictionary.com 1. A period of ten years: the three decades from 1776 to 1806 2. A period of ten years whose last digit is zero: the decade of the 1980's 3. A group, set, or series of ten So either way of looking at the "new decade" is correct! User_Name: FYI Messages"Although conventional wisdom says that the new decade began on January 1, 2010, technically it doesn't begin until January 1, 2011. The reason the new decade doesn't begin until 2011 is because there was no year 0 - the calendar began at year 1. Since a decade is ten years, the very first decade was comprised of Year 1 through Year 10. The second decade was Year 11-20, and so on." Thanks to Wikipedia User_Name: JDS MessagesDidn't the 1990's start with the year 1990, and end in 1999? That's ten years, and that's a decade! User_Name: itk MessagesHey chantrell o vision, its not the new decade...that would be next year. We start @ 1 and go to 0. Semantically yours... |
